On Saturday 19th September the communities of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and St John XXIII Catholic School in White City gathered together to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the parish and the Golden Jubilee of the school. The church had new stone work to mark the occasion and with the stunning flowers and art work created by the children the church looked spectacular.  It was standing room only as the celebrations began, with a mass celebrated by Cardinal Vincent Nicholls and many priests who have been associated with the parish over the years. It was an opportunity to thank those who had worked with such determination to build the parish and school but also to look to the future as  the Cardinal blessed the foundation stone of the new school building which will enable to school to become two from entry from September 2016.  In order to mark the canonisation of Pope John XXIII the school also took this opportunity to launch their new name of St John XXIII.

The community shared a delicious feast in the playground that had been prepared by the many different cultures in the community, with delicacies from all over the world.  It was with particular excitement that many past staff, pupils and their parents were able to be re-united after many years and they were all keen to share their memories of their time in White City. There was much laughter as they  met up with long lost old friends and explored  some of the archive of school photos and documents that dates back to the foundation of the school and parish.
