Four Key Areas for Whole School Development 2016 – 2017

These are our four main priorities for this year, all staff working with your children are responsible for ensuring these goals are developed within their classes or with the groups of children they work with.

1. Ensure the Speech and Language needs of children are addressed with Early Intervention

How will we achieve this?

  • Training for Speech and Language Champion
  • Plan for additional speech and Language provision in the school

2. The provision of Maths across the school

How will we achieve this?

  • Staff to attend regular CPD on teaching and learning in Maths
  • Deputy Head and Phase Leaders work closely together for challenge in the action plans
  • Deputy Heads support evaluation and review.
  • Regular review of pupil progress data and identify the impact of the initiatives
  • Review curriculum guidance
  • Evaluate / update resources

How will we achieve this?

  • INSET at the beginning of the year to set the expectations for the teaching and learning of SPAG in creative writing – must be seen as a combined way of teaching, SPAG needs to be seen in the context of a piece of writing.
  • Use the new curriculum to look at the coverage and content of each Year group and the expectations of progress

4.  Ensure Target Tracker is established as a reliable and accurate assessment tool

How will we achieve this?

  • Work closely with John Brace to set up Target Tracker as the sole tool for recording and measuring progress
  • Use the statements for children’s next steps targets.
  • Gap analysis – teachers to develop using this as a tool for their planning to ensure full coverage of the curriculum.
  • Use the mastery section to monitor the progress More Able children
  • Staff training on the input of data and reading the data reports
