St John XXIII Catholic Primary School

Student Groups

At St John XXIII Catholic Primary, our student groups help children learn that every person has a role to play in the life of the school community. Through age-appropriate activities, pupils develop community responsibility by taking part in shared goals, supporting others, and contributing ideas that improve everyday school experiences.

Our groups also encourage democracy in action. Children learn how decisions are made, how to listen to different viewpoints, and how to work together respectfully. This builds understanding of fair participation and helps pupils practise democratic values in a way that is meaningful and appropriate for primary age learners.

Importantly, our student groups give pupils a voice and help them represent their classmates. Children are supported to speak confidently, ask questions, and share feedback with adults in school. By listening to pupils and acting on their suggestions where possible, we strengthen trust and ensure that children feel heard, valued, and part of the wider school community.
