St John XXIII Catholic Primary School Inspiring Faith in our Future

Year 5 Garden of Gethsemane liturgy

On Wednesday, Year 5 contributed their Easter liturgy to the KS2 series of liturgies to mark Holy Week. They reminded us of the story of Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane before his arrest.

The children delivered a beautiful liturgy, reminding us that Jesus too experienced fear and worry. The story reminds us that Jesus was truly human and truly God. He set us the example that when we are afraid we can turn to God for comfort, love and guidance.

The children reminded us all of a very special message during Holy Week that everything in our lives, good or bad, is part of God’s plan for us. Like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane we have to place ourselves in God’s hands and have faith in His plan.

The Year 5 children worked hard to learn their lines and delivered a very thoughtful liturgy; giving us all a chance to reflect on the final days of Jesus’ life and what that means for us today.
